Travelling to Paphos
Visitors are allowed to bring their own cars to Cyprus for a three month stretch,
provided they can supply valid registration papers for the vehicle. Both standard
and international driver's licenses are accepted on the island. Car ferries run
between Limassol and Israel and parts of Greece, including Athens, Crete, Rhodes
and Patmos.
No rail system is currently running on Cyprus. However, buses are reasonably
priced and connect most of the main points on the island. Paphos has its own
international airport, located 13kms east of the city, and there is also an
airport at Larnaca. Both airports receive flights from most of Europe and certain
locations in the Middle East and North Africa. There are also a few transatlantic
flights. Transport into town is provided by buses and taxis.
Limassol is the main port where ferries from Israel and Greece arrive. Ferries
run from a number of ports in Greece, including Athens, Crete, Patmos and Rhodes.
There are also ferries from southern Turkey to northern Cyprus.
