Juan Les Pins - Nr Cannes Hotels
Mini guide to Juan Les Pins - Nr Cannes
Located only six miles south of Cannes, Juan Les Pins is a resort that was
developed in the early 20th century. It has been, and still is, an escape for
those looking for the ultimate Riviera experience, offering a frenzied cast
of pristine beaches and apocalyptic nightclubs; nevertheless, with a more down-to-earth
atmosphere, when compared to Cannes.
F Scott Fitzgerald said that the resort was a 'constant carnival', and he couldn't
have been closer to the truth. From dawn until dusk, this town buzzes with people
of all ages wandering the streets and embellishing the backdrop of neon signs
and noisy club doorways.
The resort does have some decent beaches with plenty of activities on offer.
Plage de Juan les Pins is the town's most central beach, where you'll have to
rent a lounger if you're not staying at one of the beachfront hotels.
Ostensibly, the best cuisine in the resort can be found at La Terrasse, in
the Hôtel Juana, which is outlandishly expensive and attracts some of
the rich and famous overflow from Cannes. Alternatively, La Roman offers good
quality cuisine at affordable prices.
For a great daytrip, head inland to the town of Grasse, with its perfume distilleries,
or on to Mougins, a quaint village and culinary centre that seems to embody
romance. Food also lures gastronomes to Golfe-Juan, which features one of the
region's best restaurants, Chez Tétou.
To drive to Juan les Pins from Nice, travel along the N7 south, and from Cannes,
follow the signposted roads. Juan les Pins is just outside of Cannes. The city
is connected by rail and bus to most other Mediterranean coastal resorts, especially
Nice. Buses arrive from Nice and its airport at 40-minute intervals throughout
the day. Buses leave for Juan les Pins from Antibes at Place Guynemer daily,
every 20 minutes.
