Travelling to Lyon

It's easy to reach Lyon by car. From Nice, head west along E1/A7 toward Aix-en-Provence,
continuing northwest toward Avignon. Bypass the city and continue north along
the same route into Lyon. From Paris, head southeast along A8/E1 into Lyon.
From Grenoble or the French Alps, head northeast along A48 until you hook up
with the junction of A43, which will take you northeast into Lyon.
Lyon is a major rail centre and serves: the southeast (Marseille), the Atlantic
and the north (Paris-Lille). By high-speed TGV train, Lyon is tw hours from
Paris, three hours from Lille and one hour, 30 minutes from the Mediterranean.
In the near future, three proposed TGV links from Lyon to Turin Barcelona and
Strasburg are also planned for completion.
Buses are often not the most luxurious way to travel but they are cheap; and
there are a myriad of bus companies and routes that find their way to Lyon.
Buses depart hourly from Paris and there are also frequent departures from other
major cities.
The Lyon-Saint-Exupry International Airport is a busy airport with flights
to over 30 French destinations and 40 international cities. There are several
trans-Atlantic flights a week. The airport terminal has modern conveniences
and is comfortable, with good transfer options into the city, including its
own rail station with TGV links to Paris.
Lyon can also be reached by ferry. The Rhône and Seine rivers have lines
that serve the Mediterranean.
