Travelling to Monaco

Monaco sits on the edge of France's Côte d'Azur province on the Mediterranean,
about 15kms from the Italian border. With no border formalities, the Principality
is easy to get to by car, bus, or train.
Monaco is linked to France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and even Great
Britain by the network of European highways. From Paris, head down the E15/A6-A7,
then east on the E80/A8. From Italy, head along the E80/A10 motorway taking
the Monaco-Roquebrune exit; from Spain, head north on the E15/A9, then east
on the E80, through Marseilles and Nice.
From Paris, departing from the Gare de Lyon, there are at least two trains
per day, each taking between six and seven hours, sometimes briefly stopping
in Nice. Trains arrive at the enormous Gare de Monaco station, a few blocks
from the hrbour in Monte Carlo.
Nice Côte d'Azur International Airport is 25kms to the west of Monaco
and links the Principality with all the major cities of the world in the shortest
possible time. There are direct flights from New York (8 hours, 40 minutes),
Paris (1 hour, 30 minutes) and London (2 hours), among others.
The quickest way to reach Monaco from the airport is by helicopter. They depart
every 20 minutes, take approximately seven minutes, and cost around €75
per person. The heliport's mini-van shuttle links the heliport to hotels in
the Principality.
Buses depart from terminals 1 and 2 every hour from 09:00 to 21:00. Journey
time is approximately 45 minutes, and cost is €13 one-way or €21.50
roundtrip. Buses stop at all the big hotels and the tourist office. Taxis are
readily available but are pricey at about €70, and take about 30 minutes.
