Geography of Paris - Disneyland

Disneyland Paris is located 30kms east of the capital in Marne-la-Vallée,
and is built along the Magic Kingdom theme, like the other Disney parks. Visitors
to Disneyland in Anaheim, Walt Disney World in Orlando or Tokyo Disney will be
familiar with the layout of the park.
The familiar-sounding lands are located off of a central hub, with happy music
coming out of rocks and shrubs and the smells of American food in the air. The
Disneyland Paris resort complex has six main hotels plus a campsite and log
cabin area which is a little way away from the park.
One noticeable difference between the American and European versions of the
parks is in the selection and naming of the rides for each area. Although each
park shares the same key areas (Adventureland, Frontierland, etc.), the attractions
at the European park are more closely aligned with European literature and films.
For example, Space Mountain has been renamed De la Terre à la Lune (From
the Earth to the Moon) - the title of the Jules Verne's book; and Cinderella's
Golden Carousel at Walt Disney World appears at Disneyland Paris as Lancelot's
Merry-Go-Round.
There is an updated version of Tomorrowland known as Discoveryland, with a
much more intense rollercoaster. Frontierland is to the left of Main Street
USA and features Big Thunder Mountain Railroad on an island. Adventureland has
a great theme and spectacular landscaping, but Fantasyland is a little lacking
in comparison to the other Disney parks.
