Travelling to Toulouse
From Paris, the drive to Toulouse is a fairly long one, taking six to seven hours.
By car, take the A10 south to Bordeaux and then the A62 to Toulouse. If coming
from the UK, you will need to make use of either the ferry crossings or the Channel
Tunnel train service to transport your vehicle to France.
The European rail network connects most major cities on the continent to France
via Paris. Nine high-speed TGV trains leave Paris for Toulouse every day, reaching
the city in approximately five hours.
There are 14 trains from Bordeaux each day, getting to Toulouse in 2 hours;
while 11 come from Marseille, taking approximately 4 hours, 30 minutes. Many
other trains from all major cities of France also go to Toulouse. Toulouse-Matabiau
station serves simultaneously as a train, bus and metro station.
Regional buses cater to the surrounding areas and coach services connect Toulouse
to a range of other European cities, usually via Paris.
Toulouse-Blagnac International Airport lies in the city's northwestern suburbs,
11kms from the city centre. Shuttle buses, which leave every 20 minutes, connect
the airport to town centre; taxis are also available but are more expensive.
Air France has about 25 flights a day from Paris to Toulouse, and two a day
from London.
Ferries run all year round from the UK to a number or ports in France, and
are a reliable and cheap form of transport.
