Travelling to Mykonos
The island of Mykonos is located in the Aegean Sea halfway between Athens and
Turkey. The airport is 4 kms from the town of Mykonos and the transfer time
is about 10 minutes. Olympic Airways has several flights daily during the season
and once a day out of season between Mykonos and Athens, and one flight daily
from Iraklion (Crete) and Santorini. Aegean Airlines has initiated a service
to Mykonos with daily flights in the summer.
Mykonos has one of the best bus systems in the Greek islands; the buses run
frequently and on schedule from the airport to the town. The taxi rank is situated
in front of the terminal, and taxis can take you to anywhere on the island.
From Piraeus, Ventouris Lines has ferry departures at least once a day, usually
at 08:00, with a second on summer afternoons; and from Rafina, Strintzis Lines
has a daily service. There are daily ferry connections between Mykonos and Andros,
Paros, Syros and Tinos; five to seven trips a week from Ios; four a week from
Iraklion, Crete; several a week from Kos and Rhodes; and two a week from Ikaria,
Samos, Skiathos, Skyros and Thessaloniki. There is also a hydrofoil service
from Crete, Ios, Paros and Santorini.
