What to see by foot: Rimini
Rimini province features over 32kms of beautiful coastline with some of the finest
beaches in Italy and a full service tourist industry to rival that of anywhere
in the world. The area's rich history and old-world atmosphere make Rimini one
of the best vacation spots in Italy.
In the city of Rimini, marking the spot of the entrance to the ancient Roman
city that once stood here, is the famous Augustus Arch. Built in 27 BC, and
the oldest monument in the city, the amazing colossal arch served as a welcome
to the city and as a warning to those who opposed Roman power.
Not far from the arch is the Malatesta Temple. Its decadent Gothic interior,
intricate heraldic symbols and bold inscriptions offer a startling contrast
to the building's simple white marble exterior.
Farther into the city are numerous open plazas and hidden medieval courtyards
such as: Malatesta Square, home of Castel Sismondo; and the elegant Piazzetta
Gregorio da Rimini.
Most travelers visit Rimini for its vast entertainment and leisure options.
In addition to gorgeous beaches and exciting nightlife, the city also boasts
one of the best amusement parks in Italy: Rimini, Rimini, Rimini. The park offers
traditional amusement park options such as rides and games, and a huge green
area with many private spots for picnics or just relaxing under a tree. Entrance
to this enormous park is free of charge.
