Travelling to Trieste
It's relatively easy to drive to Trieste from anywhere in Italy. One route
is to follow the A4 northeast from Venice until you reach the end of the line
at Trieste.
Rail is an easy and convenient way to travel through Italy. Trieste lies on
a direct rail link from Venice and trip time is 2 hours, 30 minutes. A one-way
ticket is €8.10 . The train station is on Piazza della Libertà,
northwest of the historic centre.
Taking a bus to Trieste is not recommended. It's better to fly, drive, or take
the train. Once in the city, you'll find the network of local buses servicing
the immediate region beneficial.
Trieste is serviced by an airport at Ronchi dei Legionari, 35kms northwest
of the city. Daily flights on Alitalia connect it with Linate Airport in Milan
(50 minutes), Franz Josef Strauss Airport in Munich (1 hour, 10 minutes) and
Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Rome (1 hour, 10 minutes). Nearby Venice Marco
Polo International Airport receives direct flights from many cities, and regular
connections or numerous alternative transportation options are available to
Trieste from there.
