Travelling to Vicenza

There are three main motorway junctions in Vicenza. Two of them are on the
A4 Serenissima Brescia-Padua motorway (Vicenza East and Vicenza West) on the
major route from Turin to Trieste. The third (Vicenza North) is the A31 Valdastico
motorway exit, which connects Vicenza to the A4 motorway and to its province,
in particular the north-eastern areas such as Thiene, Schio and Asiago. By car,
Vicenza is an hour away from Milan; 1 hour, 30 minutes from Bologna; and 30
minutes from Venice and Verona.
Vicenza is on the main Brescia-Padua train route and is therefore well served
by train. The city is just 2 hours from Milan; 1 hour, 30 minutes from Bologna;
and 20 minutes from Padua and Verona. The latter two cities are provided with
frequent main-line train connections to Rome.
Adjacent to the railway station is Vicenza's bus station, the very last stop
for bus services coming from the hinterland, from other regions and from abroad
to Vicenza.
Vicenza has its own airport (Dal Molin), which currently only operates for
military purposes; and for a few civilian services such as tourist flights over
the city, the Berici Hills and Vicenza's villas.
There are other two convenient passenger airports nearby, for both national
and international scheduled flights: Venezia Tessèra (Venice's Marco
Polo Airport) and Verona Villafranca (Verona's Valerio Catullo Airport). From
these airports it is possible to get to Vicenza by train and coach links.
Vicenza's public transport system (AIM) covers the whole municipal territory
and the surrounding hinterland. The Centrobus service guarantees connections
from car parks to the historical centre of Vicenza. Getting around Vicenza by
bicycle is perhaps the best way to appreciate its beauties; a practical rental
service is offered by the city.
