What to see by car: Luxembourg

Luxembourg may be small but there is plenty to explore by car. In fact, the
small size of Luxembourg makes visiting its neighbouring countries of Belgium,
France and Germany, only a short car journey away, extremely easy
Within Luxembourg, the Ardennes region in the north which boasts -, rolling
hills, green valleys, rivers and castles is spectacular, making it a popular
destination with visitors as well as locals. Visit Clervaux, known for its feudal
castle and magnificent Benedictine abbey in the forest above the town. Nearby
is Vianden, a quaint village featuring a stunning 9th century chateau.
Just a few kilometres outside of the city of Luxembourg lies the US Military
Cemetery. Here visitors can pay respects to General George S. Patton and 5,000
US soldiers and airmen who were killed while liberating the Grand Duchy in 1944.
From here you can also enjoy panoramic views of Germany's Eifel region.
The magnificent Moselle valley is a premier wine-growing region and a great
place to enjoy some wine tasting. There is a whole wine road, which starts at
Waserbillig and follows the Moselle River south, meandering through Wormeldange,
Remich and Schengen, and ending at Grevenmacher. The cellars of Poll-Fabaire
in the village of Wormeldange are well worth a visit.
Those wanting to enjoy the outdoors should go to the Müllerthal, located
to the northeast of the city of Luxembourg. This is the country's premier area
for walking, hiking, rock climbing and cycling. The landscape here is picturesque,
with breathtaking waterfalls and woodlands criss-crossed with walking trails.
