Travelling to Gozo
Gozo lies 5 kilometres north of Malta in the Mediterranean Sea, 100 kilometres
south of Sicily and about 300 kilometres south of the Italian mainland.
A helicopter service is available from Malta International Airport to the Gozo
Heliport in Xewkija and takes about 10 minutes, costing 16 Maltese pounds. Transfer
to Victoria on bus number 25. Malta receives many flights a day from cities
all over Europe and the world, including London, Manchester, Rome, Frankfurt
and Dubai.
The regular car ferry crossing from Cirkewwa, Malta to Mgarr, Gozo takes approximately
25 minutes and is the preferred way to commute between the islands. Malta can
be reached directly by ferry from either Syracuse on Sicily or Reggio di Calabria
on the Italian mainland.
Gozo buses operate along a circular route (No - 25), leaving from and returning
to Main Gate Street, Victoria, taking in Mgarr; and are timed to coincide with
the ferry schedule. Buses are grey with a central red band and show the route
number on the front.
