Travelling to Maastricht
 
The town of Maastricht is located in the southern Dutch province of Limburg,
215 kms southeast of Amsterdam, between Belgium and Germany.
The Netherlands boasts an extensive network of motorways, with good inter-connections
between all major cities. The motorways are well-maintained and clearly sign-posted
for easy access. Maastricht can be reached via the A2 (E25) motorway from Amsterdam.
The main railway station is located in the centre of town and is easily accessible.
The railway network out of Maastricht is not extensive but does cover all the
main towns and cities in the Netherlands. Trains to Amsterdam, Rotterdam and
The Hague depart on an hourly basis. For onward connections to other European
destinations, travellers will have to change trains in Amsterdam or The Hague.
The regional bus network from Maastricht makes up for what the railway network
lacks. The company, Interliner, operates fast, comfortable and efficient buses
connecting to all major Dutch cities. The bus station, Stationsplein, is centrally
located next to the main railway station.
Maastricht-Aachen Airport lies 10 kms north of the city centre and is primarily
serviced by KLM's partner airline Air Exel. The airline has daily flights from
Amsterdam, with a flight time of 40 minutes. Air Exel also has a flight from
London to Maastricht. Other charter flights are also available.
