Bigger Better Hotel Opening in London

by William ASTON on December 21, 2009

The hotel industry has struggled over the past few years as the global economy has forced many people to put off travel.  Not only are hotels losing money on individual rooms, but businesses are cutting back on conferences and business travel in an effort to cut their own costs.  This has led to hotels looking for unique and innovative ways to cut costs and raise plummeting occupancy rates.  Some hotels have cut amenities and stars in an effort to save money, while others have had to shut down completely as the economy continues to worsen and consumer confidence goes down.  However, some hotels are shunning these warnings and building new and bigger additions to their chains.  One such chain is the Park Plaza Hotels, which will soon be launching one of the largest hotels in the United Kingdom.

The hotel will represent the biggest London opening in more than ten years as the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel will feature more than a thousand rooms, over fifty penthouses and suites, and the second most amount of ballroom space in all of London.  The hotel will have a limited opening in February as construction continues on some of the amenities like the swimming pool and spa.  This will be the third Park Plaza hotel, and the biggest, to open on the South Bank.

The hotel will have more than thirty meeting rooms, which are meant to attract the all important business crowd and will also have a business lounge and six restaurants.
