Fiat and Europcar Make Car Rental Greener

by Emily DUNBAR on September 8, 2009

In an effort to appeal to customers who are concerned with the environment, Europcar has announced its plan to partner with Fiat to offer more environmentally friendly cars for hire.  With travel in a steep downturn, many car hire agencies are looking for more innovative ways to appeals to customers and Europcar is no exception.  Europcar, the largest car rental company in Europe, has revealed a series of new programs including a rewards program for frequent users as well as this newest deal with Fiat, which will appeal to customers looking to make less of an impact on the environment.

The company’s efforts have not been overlooked by the green community, which awarded Europcar the Green Charter in 2008, an award the company hopes to win again this year.  In addition to its partnership with Fiat, who is an industry leader in green cars, Europcar’s website also allows customers to compare the gas mileage and carbon emissions of its fleet online.

Fiat has long been setting the standard for cars with less carbon emissions.  Europcar’s customers will now be able to choose from a bevy of Fiat models including the Fiat 500 mini, which is one of the most environmentally friendly cars on the road today.
