Hybrid Car Rental Branches Launched by Enterprise

by Emily DUNBAR on August 27, 2009

In an effort to meet the global trend towards “green” products, car rental giant Enterprise Rent A Car announced the first of its hybrid branches in Hawaii.  Customers will be able to take advantage of a higher number of hybrid cars at these locations, as more travelers look to save money on expensive gasoline, as well as help the environment.   The plan will eventually include over a hundred branches in thirty different major markets worldwide.

Nearly 5,000 new hybrid vehicles were added to Enterprise’s fleet last year, as the world’s biggest supplier of fuel efficient car hire looks to continue to lead the field in environmentally friendly cars.  Hybrid cars are thought to have many advantages for the environment including less fuel consumption, better fuel economy, and of course, fewer carbon emissions than regular cars.  This in on top of the savings customers can expect on gasoline purchase.

“The ability to choose an environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient vehicle is important to many of our customers here in Hawai’i. Increasing the number of hybrid vehicles in our fleet means customers can reserve them online from our hybrid branches, making the process that much more convenient,”  said General Manager and Vice President of Enterprise Rent a Car Hawaii.

Enterprise hopes the Hawaiian launch will spark a worldwide trend of more environmentally friendly car rental.
