Luton to get new Hilton Garden Inn

by Alister POOLE on October 26, 2009

The Hilton Hotel company has recently announced its plans to open a new hotel near the Luton Airport.  The group announced a deal with the Ability Group to purchase a new property near the Luton Airport.  The hotel will be operated under Hilton’s Garden Inn moniker and will be the second the second Hilton Garden Inn opened at the Luton Airport.  Hilton has said that it believes the Luton Airport will become one of the key locations for its Garden Inn brand.

The hotel will be located on Kimpton Road, which is only about a five minute walk from the airport terminal.  The two hundred and fifty bedroom hotel is set to open in 2011 and will be the second Hilton Garden Inn to open in Luton in the last two years.  The first is located in the Butterfield Business Park in Luton and thus far has been very successful, which prompted the second opening.  The first Luton Garden Inn was Britain’s first.  HGI is Hilton Worldwide’s focused service brand.

Hilton Worldwide said through a spokesman that Luton would become a key location as it is one of the fastest growing airports in the United Kingdom.  The spokesman also said that the Luton Airport is due to be part of a major regeneration scheme, which also made it an attractive location to build a second Hilton Garden Inn.

This deal also secures the partnership between Hilton Worldwide and the Ability Group.  The new Hilton Garden Inn will represent the fifth project on which the two have partnered.
