Marriott will be announcing a new family vacation package in conjunction with popular kids TV station, Nickelodeon. The hotel chain is hoping to target families with young kids to over 2,000 Marriott properties this summer.

As part of the campaign, popular Nickelodeon characters from the children’s lineup will be featured at the resorts across the country. The campaign will feature Nick characters like Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants.

While the official details of the ads are still unannounced, a Marriott spokeswoman confirmed that the campaign will be launched in July and run for the remainder of the year. Bookings for the promotion will be available on 18 June. She also added that the promotion will be featured at the following Marriott brand names: JW Marriott, SpringHill Suites, Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites, Marriott, and Fairfield Inn.

Marriott will also follow through on plans it announced a few years ago to launch a chain of themed resorts along with the popular kids cable network. Nickelodeon has been expanding its business into the travel sector, the TV show developer will also launch a big programme with Norwegian Cruise Line.

Nick-themed cruises will soon be available beginning 20 February 2011. Cruises will take place aboard the Norwegian Jewel to the Bahamas departing from New York. Alternatively, the Norwegian Epic will feature the same themed cruise to Italy departing from Barcelona. Cruises will feature character breakfasts, show screenings, and meet and greets.
