Rezidor Hotel Group to expand UK portfolio

Rezidor Hotel Group has announced plans to expand its UK portfolio.

The news comes as the hotelier signs two new hotels, a Radisson Blu Hotel in Newcastle and the Park Inn Bournemouth. Both are slated to open in 2013. The Radisson Blu is set to have 170 rooms and is being touted as the town’s best-located hotel.

Positioned at the front of Westgate Road and just across from the central train station, the hotel will be built with a restaurant, bar, 400 square metre conference room and fitness centre. It will also feature signature services such as high-speed internet.

The Park Inn property will have 172 bedrooms and is set to be built in the city centre, between the beach and the main train station. It will also be in walking distance of the popular Bournemouth International Centre. This property will contain a bar, gym, meeting space and fitness centre. Due to the property’s hilltop location the upper bedrooms in this proposed hotel will have ocean views.

Rezidor Hotel Group is one of the world’s fastest growing hoteliers. It operates over 400 locations currently, boasting 86,300 rooms in 60 different countries.

President and chief executive of the hotel group, Kurt Ritter said that the Radisson Blu portfolio now includes 17 properties in the UK including hotels in London, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham. The news of two new hotels is testament to the importance of the British market for the group, he added.
