Alcudia - Majorca Hotels
Travelling to Alcudia - Majorca
Alcudia is located in the north of Majorca, which is the largest of the Balearic
Islands, lying about 200kms from Barcelona and 145kms from Valencia in the Mediterranean
Sea.
Majorca is a tourist island and most of its visitors arrive at Son Sant Joan
International Airport (8kms from Palma). From here bus numbers 17 and 25 run
to Placa De Epanya in the centre of Palma every 20 minutes. A metered taxi will
cost about 16 Euros for the 25-minute journey.
Eight buses a day make the journey from the airport to Alcudia, running from
08:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and from 08:00 to 16:00 on Saturday and Sunday. Most
resorts around the island also run their own shuttles and transfer time for
the 52-km journey from the airport is around 1 hour, 30 minutes.
There are direct flights from many major European cities. A flight via the
Spanish mainland will cost you more, but there are cheap flights from Barcelona
and Valencia, especially in the low season.
Iberia flies to Palma's Aeroport Son San Joan from Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid.
There are daily planes from Madrid and Valencia, and several daily flights from
Barcelona in summer. Spanair flies into Palma from Barcelona (up to three times
a day during summer) and from Madrid, Bilbao, Minorca, Santiago de Compostela,
Malaga and Tenerife. Air Europa flies to Palma from Barcelona a maximum of two
times a day during peak season, and to a lesser extent, it flies to Palma from
Madrid, Minorca, Ibiza and Seville.
Ferries run daily to and from Barcelona and Valencia, arriving in Palma. Others
include regular services from Ibiza and Menorca and also Marseille, France.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at the ports.
Transmediterranea, at Estacio Maritim in Palma operates two to five ferries
a day from Barcelona; the journey takes 8 hours and costs around 47 Euros one-way.
There are six ferries per week from Valencia, Monday to Saturday; the trip takes
7 hours and costs 47 Euros one-way. In Barcelona, tickets can be booked at the
Transmediterranea office at Estacio Maritim; and in Valencia, you can book in
the office at the Terminal Transmediterranea Muelle Deponiente.
