What to see by foot: Benalmadena

Sunbathing on one of the many fine beaches is the number one pastime in Benalmadena and, together with a world class leisure harbour and the delightful village of Benalmadena Pueblo, there's plenty of leisure strolling to be had.

For those that fancy a bit more culture or a change from the beach scene, visit the delightful little town of Benalmadena Pueblo with its narrow, winding streets, flower bedecked balconies and white-washed houses.

The Museo Arqueologico is a must-see, with its fine collection of pre-Columbian and Neolithic artefacts from around the Andalusian region. The most impressive part of the museum, however, is the magnificent marble floor which was retrieved from a ship that capsized off the coast in the 18th century. Nearby is the Castillo de Comares, a monument to the great Christopher Columbus, commemorating his discovery of America and built by local people.

Apart from the many water sports activities, Benalmadena has many other attractions on offer, including the Sea Life Centre located just off the promenade and by the harbour, which boasts over 30 marine life displays including sharks, octopi, eels and reef life. Reputed to be one of the best of its kind in the world, you can marvel at these amazing creatures as you wander through the tunnels.

The new Puerto Marina is the place to go for nightlife; popular with locals and tourists alike, the place has a distinctly international feel to it. The area is crammed with a variety of nightclubs and bars playing the latest music and staying open until sunrise; however, prices are more expensive than those in Malaga city centre.
