What to see by foot: La Manga

La Manga is famous for its sporting facilities, particularly at the world renowned La Manga Club resort, where professional athletes often rub shoulders with well-heeled tourists.

If you decide to abandon the car for a while, there are a number of active pursuits you can try. Perhaps the most renowned facilities are the three top quality 18-hole golf courses, which combine tournament standard courses with stunning views of the Mediterranean. However, if you are not Tiger Woods, do not despair as there are lessons available, and weekly competitions for less able players.

La Manga also has excellent tennis facilities, which include computer-assisted tennis teaching systems and are host to international tour matches. The 28 floodlit courts form part of a complex which also houses a gym, clubhouse and swimming pool.

There is also a football academy at La Manga, which is home to superb facilities and excellently maintained all-weather pitches. The frequenters of the football academy range from professional footballers, to enthusiasts and children who learn new skills in one- or two-week sessions given by trained coaches.

If water sports are more your thing, there are plenty of opportunities for waterskiing, windsurfing and sailing. Alternatively, pleasure walkers and serious hikers can head to hiking trails along the peninsula and in the nearby Revolcadores mountain range.
