What to see by car: La Manga

Situated 25kms from La Manga is the ancient port of Cartagena. The city boasts a ruined Roman theatre and renowned archaeological museums. Other major places of interest include: the Church of Santa Maria La Vieja, the Torre Ciega, Torres Park and the Castle de la Concepcion.

One of the loveliest areas in the city is its port, where you can find many attractions, including: the Modernist Town Hall; several monuments (such as the one dedicated to the Heroes of Cavite and Santiago de Cuba); and the first submarine in the world ever to be launched - dating from 1888.

Murcia, the capital of the region, is 70kms from La Manga and is surrounded by a splendidly fertile cultivated plain. The most important monument in the city is the cathedral. Other important sights include: the Episcopal Palace, the casino and several churches. The city is also home to many interesting museums, including: the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of La Huerta.

Ten kilometres away, Cabo de Palos is home to a very popular Sunday market, ceramic shops and some pleasant seafood restaurants that are nestled around the harbour. The nearby village of Los Belones has a small fruit market every Tuesday. Alternatively, the Bodega de Los Belones wine cellar offers wine tasting and an extensive range of local and national wines.
