What to see by foot: Magaluf - Majorca

The principal attraction of Majorca's number one beach resort, Magaluf, is of course the beach area itself which offers the visitor some fantastic views - on a clear day El Arenal can be seen across Palma bay. The golden sand extends for over a kilometre and is extremely clean, earning the beach the coveted Blue Flag award many times over. All the usual water sport activities are available, including: waterskiing, parascending and jet skiing.

For those who fancy an escape from the hordes of tourists, about 200m offshore is the small island of Sa Porrasa which is easily accessed by boat, or pedalo for the more energetic. Overlooking the beach is the palm-lined Passeig Maritim de Magaluf, or boardwalk, which is a delight to stroll along any time of the day or night. A vast selection of restaurants, shops and bars can be found along this promenade.

The nightlife in this lively resort is legendary and there are some very ritzy marble-clad bars sprinkled among the cheaper venues. Nightclubs are abundant and the more upscale places, BCM's for example, regularly hire world-renowned DJs in the summer months. It's a good idea to do the bulk of your drinking in the bars before entering these places as they're not known for their reasonable prices.

The resort offers a wealth of entertainment with some top golf courses, casinos and water parks. Nearby is Majorca's number one water park, the Western Water Park, a favourite of tourists and locals alike. A visit there is a great way to enjoy some cool, refreshing fun in the sun. The park even offers multi-passenger rides that groups can enjoy together, along with various shows throughout the day to keep you entertained.
