Situated on the west coast of Ibiza in the Balearic Islands, San Antonio, known as 'San An' to regular visitors, is the largest and liveliest tourist resort on the island. Its long wide bay is lined with bars, restaurants and some quality accommodation; and is an island Mecca for those looking for a lively nightlife.

The principal attraction is the bay, known for centuries as Portus Magnus (big harbour), which has shallow waters and is great for swimming. Stroll the pedestrian streets and visit the fortified church in the town, then wander along the maritime promenade. In the evening, all are attracted by the scenic sunset with the silhouette of Conejera Island, which can be watched from the terraces of several musical cafés.

The other main attraction of San Antonio is the legendary nightlife, which hosts some of the world's best clubs and famous international DJs; so those looking for a less hectic evening should stay closer to the San Antonio Bay end of town.

Activity-seekers can arrange everything from golf and tennis to quad biking, karting and horseback riding. After a fun day out, you'll be ready for a hearty meal; and cuisine ranges from good local Spanish fare and excellent locally-caught seafood, to fast food and pavement café treats.

The interior of the island and much of the coastline is unspoilt and easily explored by car. The spectacular cave complex of cova de Can Marca lies a few kilometres north of the village of Sant Miquel. The salt flats, La Salinas, in the south of Formentera, are one of Ibiza's most famous landmarks. These sparkling salt lakes provide one of the world's most beautiful sunset photograph opportunities.

Ibiza airport is situated about 25kms south of the town and receives flights from many European cities. A bus runs every hour into San Antonio, taking about 30 minutes; and taxis are also readily available.
