Travelling to Zurich

Driving to Zürich is simple. The N1 is the fastest route from Bern and
Basel, as well as from France. The N3 will take you south towards Italy.
The city's Hauptbahnhof is a main rail hub with regular direct trains to Stuttgart,
Munich, Innsbruck and Milan, and infrequent services to destinations farther
afield. Trains leave almost hourly to Bern, Basel and Geneva.
Buses depart from Zürich to a wide range of European destinations as far
away as London, Rome, Budapest and Copenhagen.
Zürich's Kloten Airport is a busy international airport with plenty of
regional flights daily from all major European cities, and several trans-Atlantic
routes. Flights arrive from major cities around the world but for convenience
you may have to route through London, Amsterdam or Frankfurt.
The airport is located 10kms north of the city centre, and is well serviced
with regular and reliable transfer shuttles handled with typical Swiss efficiency.
The train also runs from the airport to Hauptbahnhof station (10 minutes), leaving
every 10 minutes from 06:00 to 24:00. Taxis can be a costly option in Switzerland.
There is a comprehensive and unified bus, tram and S-Bahn service in the city,
which includes boats on the Limmat River. Tickets allow you to switch between
modes of transport. You can choose between a 24-hour city pass and a 24-hour
pass valid for unlimited travel within the whole canton of Zürich. Taxis
in Zürich are costly even by Swiss standards.
