What to see by car: Zurich

The Swiss frown upon pollution, which makes cars a little less popular; but
outside of the cities you're encouraged to explore the incredible countryside
and driving is easy.
Situated on the nearby Zürichberg (mountain), the Zoo Dolder boasts over
2,500 animals, from 350 species, making it one of Europe's most important zoos.
Its location is stunning; you can even take fantastic walks into the Zürichberg
woods behind the grounds. The expansive location gives the zoo creatures plenty
of room to roam and the zoo has even added a Madagascan rainforest environment.
If you come at certain times you can see elephants being washed, bats feeding,
and emperor penguins strolling free around the grounds.
Switzerland is, of course, famous for its chocolate; and a visit would not
be complete without sampling the local gourmet delights available in specially
dedicated shops all over the country. The Lindt and Sprüngli chocolate
factory is mandatory for all chocoholics. It's located a few kilometres south
of the city centre and has a wonderful free museum serving up chocolate at no
cost.
A scenic drive along Lake Zürich will take your breath away as you admire
the fantastic Swiss countryside. There are many quaint villages along the shoreline
and you can stop in and stroll around.
Uetliberg is a popular scenic excursion out of Zürich. It's a curious
attraction based on the planets in the solar system and presented as an outdoor
exhibition. The mountain ridge on which it's located offers spectacular views
of a small example of our own planet.
