Mini guide to Aberdeen Airport
Aberdeen airport is a small yet important regional airport serving Scotland's
third largest city. Located just seven miles from the city centre, the airport
offers regular connections to destinations throughout the UK and Scandinavia
while also serving as a launch pad for helicopters connecting the North Sea
oil fields with the mainland, making it the world's largest commercial heliport.
The airport consists of a single terminal, making navigation relatively simple.
Arrivals and check-ins are both on the ground floor, with check-ins on the left
side of the concourse. A number of airlines regularly service Aberdeen airport,
including British Airways, which provides an extensive domestic flight network
as well as numerous international flights via London's Heathrow and Gatwick
Airports.
ATMs are located on both sides of security, while a Travelex currency exchange
can be found before security opposite the information desk (05:30-22:00 Monday-Friday,
06:00-18:00 weekends). There is a left luggage, lost property, baby care room
and first aid assistance available near the information desk (05:00 - 22:00
daily).
The airport offers a wide selection of shops, including Books Plus, Christian
Scott (Knitwear and Scottish gifts), The Whiskey Shop and Box of Delights (confectionary),
as well as several duty-free outlets.
There are plenty of restaurants and food outlets available, as well as self-service
café's, pubs and bars.
The Aberdeen Airport Thistle Hotel provides business facilities and services.
British Airways frequent flyers are catered for by an executive lounge in the
airport.
There are toilets for the disabled as well as ramps and lifts. Cheap parking
is available for disabled drivers.
