Mini guide to Aviemore
Set within some of Scotland's most spectacular and accessible scenery, and
already renowned as a major Ski Resort, Aviemore in Cairngorms is a favourite
year-round highland destination for visitors from within the UK and overseas.
Its central location makes it an ideal base for touring the highlands.
The villages of the Aviemore and the Cairngorms area, known locally as Badenoch
and Strathspey, offer a range of shopping and visitor attractions second to
none in the Highlands. The diversity of both summer and winter activities is
unrivalled in the area - from Britain's premier skiing centre at Cairngorm,
to Loch Morlich Wwatersports, mountain biking, forest trails and much more.
Plus the new Cairngorm Mountain Railway is an experience not to be missed for
people of all ages.
Within a short travelling distance of Aviemore, you will find some of Scotland's
top tourist attractions. The Loch Ness Centre is less than an hour away, while
the award-winning Landmark Heritage Centre at Carrbridge is 10 minutes away.
The Internationally acclaimed Rothiemurchus estate is also just a 10 minute
drive as is the Highland Wildlife Park. For those wishing to travel further
afield, the mystical Isle of Skye is just two hours away.
Aviemore has its own railway station linked by fast efficient services to other
parts of the UK (London is seven hours away). Alternatively, the modern Inverness
Airport is now served by two airlines direct from London - Easyjet, from Luton
and British Regional Airlines, from Gatwick, as well as services from Glasgow
and Edinburgh. Inverness Airport is around one hour's drive away. Driving to
Aviemore is very straightforward as the main A9 road takes you through the heart
of Aviemore and Spey Valley.
