Travelling to Ayr
    
Ayr does not have its own airport, but Glasgow Prestwick International Airport
is only 4 miles away and Glasgow Airport is 37 miles from Ayr. Both airports
have international and domestic flight services and excellent transportation
connections.
There are frequent bus and train links from Ayr, to and from Glasgow, Dumfried
and Stranraer. Trains to Glasgow Central Station depart every 30 minutes, with
journey times of 50 minutes. Stranraer is about 1 hour away by train. Stagecoach
Express buses from Glasgow have journey times of 1 ½ hours.
There are quick and reliable ferry services from Ireland - either into Stranraer
or fast fast Seacat service into Troon. Caledonian MacBrayne ferries sail to
Brodick, Arran run regularly all year, and there's also a ferry link from Lochranza,
in the north of the island, to Claonaig on Kintyre.
It is easy to reach Ayr by road as well. It is located only 56 km south west
of Glasgow and 130 km south west of Edinburgh.
