Baker Street Hotels - London

Mini guide to Baker Street

The Baker Street area is a quaint residential area located within walking distance of Regent's Park. There are cute cafes and little shops interspersed with pre-war residential buildings, giving a High Street feel.

Baker Street conjures up images of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detectives, Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson. They lived at 221b Baker Street, now the Sherlock Holmes Museum.

This area is most well known for Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum and the London Planetarium, two major attractions in London. At Madame Tussaud's you can have your picture taken with your favorite celebrity, politician or even creature! The London Planetarium lets you experience the stars and galaxies and adults and children can spend a fascinating few hours here.

There is plenty of shopping and pubbing all along Baker Street and the adjacent side streets. You won't see chain shops here, but mostly quaint little shops that have escaped commercialism.

Baker Street is easily reached via the tube and is a major connection point for transfers: the Bakerloo, Metropolitan, Jubilee, Central, and Hammersmith and City Lines all converge at Baker Street station.
