Travelling to Bath
    
Bath can easily be reached from London and other areas in Britain, as it is
conveniently located close to both the M4 and M5 motorways. The city is approximately
10 miles south of junction 18 on the M4 motorway, which connects London with
South Wales. The drive from London can take around 2 hours. The M4/M5 interchange
lies just north of Bristol, giving easy access to the Southwest and Midlands.
Bristol is about 15 miles or a 20 minutes drive away from Bath.
Train and coach access is also easy, with direct train links from London's
Paddington station. With high speed departures at least every half hour, the
journey takes about 1½ hours. Coaches to Bath depart from Victoria Coach
Station in London, with journey times of around 2½ hours, depending on
traffic.
Access via air is convenient as well, as three airports can be easily access
from Bath: Heathrow (98 miles), Gatwick (128 miles) and Bristol International
Airport (16 miles).
Bristol International Airport is the closest airport to Bath, with services
within Britain, as well as limited European destinations. There is a regular
coach service from the airport to Bath centre as well as a dedicated taxi service,
which takes about an hour, depending on traffic, costing approximately £30.
There are several options to reach Bath from Heathrow airport. The Heathrow
Express takes just 15 minutes to reach Paddington station, from there a train
to Bath departs approximately every 30 minutes during the day. There is an AirBus
from Heathrow to Reading station, from where you can also pick up the West country-bound
trains. National Express coaches run a direct coach service from Heathrow to
Bath.
From Gatwick airport either take the Gatwick Express train to Paddington and
then a train from Paddington station to Bath or take the coach service from
Gatwick to Victoria Coach Station, which has direct coaches to Bath.
