Mini guide to Birmingham

Birmingham is Britain's second largest city and lies in the heart of England.
The city is famous for the Mini Cooper, world famous Crufts dog show, Formula
1 racer Nigel Mansell, and as having more canals than Venice! Due to its central
location and excellent transportation connections, Birmingham is also a great
starting point for visits to other areas in Britain.
Culture is abundant in Birmingham, with regular performances of the City of
Birmingham Orchestra, Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Birmingham Royal Ballet.
Shopping is diverse, with the leading department stores, modern shopping malls
(the Pallasades and Pavilions), but also small quaint shops as well as street
markets. On the other hand, Birmingham has also been able to turn itself into
one of the premier meeting places in Europe, hosting prestigious events and
conferences throughout the year.
For some excellent dining and atmosphere, Brindleyplace at The Water's Edge,
is not to be missed. This whole canal area has been restored and redeveloped
and is now a jewel in Birmingham's crown. It offers a wide range of shops, cafés,
restaurants and bars. Dining options are abundant, from local pub food to international
cuisine. However, for authentic Kashmir food, stroll down the 'Balti Mile',
where there are over 40 Kashmiri restaurants serving a variety for food.
Nightlife in Birmingham is vibrant and diverse, with something for everyone.
Theatre, plays, concerts, opera and ballet can all be enjoyed at various venues
in the city. Live music is performed in many of the pubs and there are over
20 night clubs to choose from - the most famous are Ronnie Scott's for jazz
and Branstons or Bobby Browns for dancing.
Central located in the heart of England, Birmingham is simple to access with
many options. Birmingham International Airport is located close to the city
and has abundant domestic and international connections. Both rail and coach
services are efficient and abundant, offering connections to all major cities
in Britain. Many of the major motorways converge in Birmingham, making access
by car simple as well.
