What to see by foot: Bradford

It is easy to spend a whole day at the National Museum of Film, Photography
and Television, Bradford's highlight. There are six floors of highly interactive
displays, with galleries dedicated to digital technology, news, animation and
light.
For history buffs, visit the Bradford Industrial Museum and Horses at Work,
located in an original worsted spinning mill, which recreates life in Bradford
at the turn of the 19th century. The museum also showcases how horses were used
during this period for pulling trams and buses. It is still possible to see
the sturdy Shire horses stabled here.
Bolling Hall is the former Tempest family home, dating back to the Civil War.
It is beautifully decorated with period furnishings and is famous for its stained
glass windows featuring the coat of arms. Located just outside the city centre,
the tranquil setting and beautiful gardens are a nice reprieve from the city.
Bradford Cathedral was formerly the St. Peter's Parish Church. Built on the
site of an old Norman church, the current cathedral dates largely from the 15th
century with some 19th century additions. The interior of the cathedral shows
a blend of ancient and modern.
For something different, visit the Colour Museum located in an old wool warehouse
at the headquarters of the Society of Dyers and Colourists. It is dedicated
to the history, development and technology of colour, and is the only museum
of its kind in Europe. It is fun and informative for both children and adults.
For some outdoor leisure, Walk or take a canal boat along the Leeds-Liverpool
canal. The Five Rise Locks are a picturesque staircase of five locks on the
canal. A masterpiece of 18th century engineering, it is amazing to watch the
boats come down this lock, a must for photographers!
For those travelling with kids, visit the Jungle Adventure Pool, a huge indoor
swimming complex with two amazing water slides. The Cobra is reputed to be the
longest, scariest, and fastest black hole slide in Britain. Sliders will reach
speeds of up to 40 mph and fall 40 meters!
