Mini guide to Cardiff Airport
Cardiff International Airport (CWL) is the principal gateway into Wales and
its recent renovations have turned it into a first class facility, offering
numerous direct flights across the UK and Europe, and only 12 miles out from
the city centre.
The airport consists of a lone terminal, with check-ins located on the first
floor and arrivals on the ground floor. It offers 13 direct flights to major
cities across the UK and Europe, with over 1.5 million passengers using the
airport each year.
There are three money exchange centres, while money can also be exchanged online
through Travelex via the travel offers section. There is a HSBC ATM located
in the check-in hall. The information desk is located on the first floor and
offers fax and photocopying facilities. Also available are baby care rooms and
play centres for those traveling with children.
There's a wide range of food and refreshments to be enjoyed at the food court
overlooking the runway, including hot food, snacks and sandwiches. There are
also two pubs offering meals and traditional beers.
Two World News outlets are located within the airport offering books, newspapers,
magazines, confectionary, tobacco and last minute travel and pharmaceutical
supplies. Nuance Travel Shopping offers a good selection of duty-free items
or those traveling outside the EU, including alcohol, tobacco, cosmetics, perfume
and toys.
The airport provides wheelchairs for the disabled while people can retain their
own right up until boarding. The information desk is equipped with a minicom
system for the hard of hearing, and disabled toilets and lifts are located on
both levels. Reserved parking is also provided.
