Travelling to Chester

Chester's central location makes it an important transportation hub for the
northwest region.
The M6, M53 and M56 help to emphasise Cheshire's central location within the
UK which means that most major conurbations and holiday resorts are within easy
travelling distance.
Regular trains connect Chester to London in a little over two hours and major
investment in the West Coast Main Line will see even faster journey times in
the near future. Chester is an important link of the London-to-Holyhead route
and recent investment has included electrification from Ellesmere Port. Cheshire
enjoys excellent rail services that connect with the Channel Tunnel Rail Link
into Europe.
Coaches run from Chester to all main towns, with frequent services to Manchester,
Liverpool and London. Local buses operate on routes throughout the county and
to neighbouring towns. Local bus timetable information is available from the
Cheshire Transport Hotline on + 44 (0) 1244 602666.
Over 100 airlines operate out of Manchester Airport to most European cities
and major destinations in North America, Asia and Australia, and Cheshire is
linked by frequent 50-minute shuttles. Liverpool Airport is also expanding its
passenger traffic, while Hawarden outside Chester handles private flights.
