What to see by car: Coventry
    
Kenilworth Castle is considered to be one of the largest and finest castle
ruins in England and is located about 6 miles outside of Coventry. The castle
is steeped in history and was where Henry V retired to after his victory at
Agincourt.
The rich local aviation history can be seen at its best in the Midlands Air
Museum at Baginton, where there is a unique collection of aircraft and engines.
Nearby lies the Lunt Roman Fort, once inhabited by the Roman Army. This ancient
site provides a fascinating snapshot of Roman military life.
Roughly 10 miles outside of Coventry lies Warwick Castle. One of the most beautiful
castles in Britain, it is set in a wonderful estate and within the castle you
can experience the recreated medieval household and life, as well as the elegant
splendour of the Great Hall and State Rooms. The castle also boasts an extensive
armoury. Every summer the castle also hosts a medieval festival every summer.
The city of Warwick itself boasts many historic houses and sites for the visitor
to explore. The historic Market Hall contains the Warwickshire Museum, with
displays of local archaeology. The Collegiate Church of St Mary, the Lord Leycester
Hospital and the Doll Museum are also noteworthy. In the countryside are various
stately homes, including 17th century Ragley Hall, near Alcester. Leamington
Spa is an attractive 18th century spa resort that is nearby.
Birmingham, Britain's second largest city, is only 40 miles away from Coventry
and well worth a day or longer visit. Some of the city's highlights are: the
National Sea Life Centre, Jewellery Quarter, Aston Hall and Cadbury World.
