East Midlands Airport (EMA) is located in central England, 13 miles southwest
of Nottingham, and its single terminal services flights across the UK and Europe.
The airport is popular among business travelers and handles 2.5 million passengers
annually.
The single terminal handles both departures (first floor) and arrivals (ground
floor) and has undergone renovations in recent years. The airport offers 30
scheduled flights to and from destinations across Europe.
There are two bureau de change in the terminal building while upon arrival
you will find several ATMs in the arrivals hall. Other airport facilities include
a first aid room, baby care rooms in the departure and arrival lounges, a lost
property service, children's play areas and a video game zone.
The food hall is located on the first floor of the terminal and offers a good
variety of food and refreshments, including Burger King and Upper Crust Baguettes.
The international departure lounge is catered for by the Meden Food Village.
Also available is a traditional British pub and several other bars.
A wide range of shops can be found in the main terminal and international departures
lounge, including a big duty-free shop. Other outlets include World News, Boots,
Dominoes Toys, Impulse Records and Salisburys.
The information desk, in the main terminal building, is open 24 hours and offers
fax and photocopy facilities for business travelers for a small fee (tel:+ 44
(0)1332 852 852). British Midland offers the Euroclass and Diamond Club Lounges,
both providing fax, photocopy and internet facilities for business class passengers
and Diamond Club members.
For disabled travelers there is an induction loop system for the hard of hearing,
dedicated car parking, porters, disabled toilets, and free use of wheelchairs
up until boarding. The airport meets EU standards for the disabled.
