Edinburgh International Airport (EDI) is the principal air hub for Scotland
and is situated just eight miles west of the city. It offers numerous daily
flights to European destinations as well as connecting flights to destinations
further a field, and handles seven million passengers a year.
The airport consists of a single terminal building, with arrivals located on
the ground floor and departures and most shops and restaurants located on the
first floor.
The airport information desk is located in the international arrivals hall.
The left luggage/lost property desk is located between the check-in and international
arrivals hall (+44 (0)131 344 3486).
ATMs are found both before and after security in the departures area on the
first floor. Here you will also find a bureau de change, with another bureau
located in the international arrivals hall. Other facilities include baby change
rooms, a first aid room and a pharmacy.
National, Alamo, Avis, Europcar and Hertz all have branches located in the
domestic arrivals hall. A courtesy bus ferries customers from the terminal to
the car pick up area.
The airport offers excellent shopping opportunities with a range of designer
brands and high street stores. Choose from a range of products including Scotch
whiskey and malts, tobacco, cosmetics, clothing, electrical goods and music.
There are numerous bars and restaurants in the terminal building satisfying
all tastes, among them Burger King, Village Grill, La Brioche Dorree, Costa
Café, and JD Wetherspoon Pub.
British Airways, British Midland and Servisair all have executive lounges with
phone, fax and internet facilities for business travellers.
Facilities for the disabled include specially designed ramps, lifts, toilets,
and seats with induction loops and low-level flight information monitors. There
are also induction loops at check-in, arrivals, departures and the information
desk, and a minicom service (0131 344 3100).
