Geography of Edinburgh Airport
Edinburgh International Airport is situated just eight miles west of the city
centre, and the abundance of buses, taxis and hire care agencies makes it relatively
simple and convenient to get there.
The airport lies on the A8 Edinburgh-Glasgow route, which makes it simple if
you are heading to or from either of these two cities. The M8 motorway also
connects the two cities, if heading to Glasgow from the airport take the J1
exit south at Newbridge roundabout before joining the M8 at J2. The M90 takes
you north towards Perth, Dundee and the highlands.
Edinburgh is connected by train to all major UK destinations. The Edinburgh-London
train is fast and efficient and provides a restaurant and bar service. The journey
takes about 4.5 hours and terminates at London's King's Cross station.
Edinburgh is world renowned for its cultural and literary heritage, with the
city packed with fascinating sites and regular festivals. It is built for walking,
boasting cobbled streets and beautiful squares, and surrounded by rolling green
hills, pristine lakes and forests. It is also a gateway to the central Scotland
and the highlands, a convenient base for trips to the Trossachs (lake district),
the Kingdom of Fife, the Borders, through the highlands to Inverness and along
the spectacular coast to Aberdeen.
