Elsham Hall Country & Wildlife Park, 11 miles outside of Hull, was opened
in 1970 by Captain and Mrs. Elwes to promote enjoyment of the countryside and
wildlife and an appreciation of the arts and rural crafts. The park facilities
include a craft centre with workshops for ceramics, puppet making, picture framing
and woodturning. There are also garden walks and an opportunity to watch falconry
at work.
In the heart of North Lincolnshire countryside, 15 miles from Hull, lies Normanby
Hall Country Park. The splendid Regency mansion is set in 300 acres of parkland
and is a wonderful day out for the whole family. Inside the mansion is the stunning
Regency Hall and its costume gallery, outside you will find the award-winning
Victorian Walled Garden, Adventure Playground and Farming Museum. For children,
there is a pony ride and miniature railway.
Pleasure Island Theme Park, in Cleethorpes, is perfect for a family outing,
located on 18 miles outside of Hull. This theme park is full of adrenaline packing
rides, like the G-force ride that boasts 2.5Gs! There are also many shows to
be enjoyed at the park as well.
Just outside of Hull lies the town of Beverley, with its famous 13th century
Minster. The Minster was founded by St. John of Beverley in 700 and the current
Minster, dating from 1220, still a functioning church. The town itself is also
charming and fun to explore by foot.
Sewerby Hall & Gardens, 25 miles outside Hull, is located dramatically
on a cliff-top overlooking Bridlington Bay. The Georgian House, dating back
to 1715, is set in 50 acres of parkland is now the Museum of East Yorkshire.
The museum contains archaeological displays, an art gallery and many other treasures.
The gardens are just as stunning with a walled English Garden and Rose Garden.
