The New Walk Museum and Art Gallery is located within the historic New Walk
area of Leicester. The building was originally the Proprietary School and was
built in 1837. In 1849, the Literary and Philosophical Society formally presented
its various collections to the city, which form the core of the displays. It
is said that the museum has been the inspiration for Lord Attenborough and Sir
David Attenborough, who pursued their careers in acting and natural history
as a result of spending their formative years visiting the galleries.
The Jewry Wall is one of Leicester's most famous landmarks. It is a rare example
of Roman walling, which has survived for nearly 2,000 years. Originally it was

Museum shows the numerous excavations in this site and with it, Leicester's
early history.
Leicester's Museum of Science and Technology is located in a 19th century sewage
