Travelling to Liverpool

As England's second largest city, Liverpool is easy to get to and is well served
by road, rail, air and sea.
The M6 and M62 motorways provide the main traffic connections between Liverpool
and all major areas of the country. Liverpool city centre is approximately 45
minutes drive from Chester, Manchester and North Wales; just over one hour from
Blackpool, the Lake District, Yorkshire Moors and the Peak District National
Parks; and just over four hours from London.
Lime Street Train Station is a major British hub and serves most of England
with regular services. The local service operates in and out of Liverpool City
Centre at four stations: Liverpool Central, Moorfields, James Street and Lime
Street - which is the City's main train station, serving local and national
routes. Liverpool operates a solitary underground rail service, linking the
city's four train stations.
There are good express connections to Liverpool from most towns and cities
in Britain (to Liverpool there are half hourly services from Manchester, hourly
services to York and every two hours to London and Birmingham). The National
Express coach station is located in Norton Street, Liverpool City Centre.
There are four-hour ferries or two-hour catamaran services from the Isle of
Man to Liverpool's docks, operating frequently, and daily services to both Dublin
and Belfast. Ferry arrivals dock at the terminals just north of Pier Head, close
to Albert Dock and not far from James Street Merseyrail station.
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is just eight miles from the City Centre and
has regular scheduled and charter flights from 13 domestic and European destinations
as well as 21 Mediterranean resorts, including Belfast and Dublin and Cork,
Isle of Man, Alicante, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Geneva, Madrid, Nice,
Paris, Palma, and Malaga. There is a rail link from Manchester Airport directly
into Liverpool City Centre (journey time 90 minutes). There are regular shuttle
flights into Manchester from Britain's other major airports including Gatwick
and Heathrow.
