What to see by foot: Middlesbrough
    
Middlesbrough is ideal for exploring on foot and has several attractions within
easy access of the town centre.
The Dorman Museum is located about half a mile from the city centre. The museum
boasts several themed galleries, such as Earth in Space, H2O, 20th Century Women,
Town in Time, Linthorpe Art Pottery, and the T.H. Nelson Bird Gallery.
Middlesbrough Town Hall is an historic Victorian building that was inaugurated
by King Edward VII in 1998. The Town Hall has always been the home of entertainment
in Middlesbrough and still is to date. Anything from rock concerts to classical
concerts and theatre can be enjoyed here throughout the year.
The Transporter Bridge is a stunning piece of engineering, gracing the skyline
of Middlesbrough. The bridge was originally designed to allow tall ships to
pass beneath and opened in 1911. Today there are only two other transporter
bridges in Britain, in Gwent and Warmington. The central section of the bridge
moves across the River Tees, ferrying cars and pedestrians. At night the bridge
is stunningly illuminated.
For a get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, visit Albert Park, also
known as the people's park, as it was donated to the people of Middlesbrough
in 1866 by Henry Bolckow, the first mayor of Middlesbrough. The park is about
100 acres in size and has plenty of areas to stroll, relax or enjoy the various
park facilities, such as boating on the lake, the roller rink or Teen Zone for
kids over 12 years of age.
