What to see by foot: Newquay

There are many places to visit in Newquay, simply by strolling around town.
Newquay's golden beaches and perfect surf are its main attractions, and visitors
come from all over Britain to soak up the sun, enjoy the relaxed atmosphere
of the seaside, enjoy a chilled drink while taking in the sunset, and to ride
the waves. In fact, Fistral Beach looks the Atlantic directly in the eye and
boasts one of the only surfable breaks in Britain.
Newquay Zoo is a wonderful alternative to the beach, for those days when you've
had too much sun. There is a Tropical House that is home to many exotic and
endangered reptiles and insects, while the Aviary replicates a rainforest to
accommodate its 100 different species live. For those who want to learn more
about the bigger mammals, there are pumas and a Lion House.
Alternatively, if you want to discover life beneath the ocean's waves, The Blue
Reef Aquarium on Towan Promenade brings the Atlantic on-shore with a fascinating
slice of life in the sea.
Meanwhile, Trenance Leisure Park and Gardens, only a five-minute stroll from
the town centre and nearby the zoo, is 26 acres of lush subtropical plants,
trees and flowers, along with a covered heated pool, the 60m flume of the massive
water attraction known as Waterworld, a miniature railway, and an adult sports
centre.
