Travelling to Portsmouth

By road, the A3(M) puts London only 90 minutes away while the M27/A27 connects
the city with Britain's motorway network.
There are direct rail services from London (80 minutes) and there are extensive
routes and connections from all major British cities. Portsmouth's main train
station is in the city centre, but the line continues to Harbour Station, the
most convenient stop for the main sights and old town.
There's a comprehensive local bus network across the Portsmouth and Hampshire
area, and National Express operates regular daily services from the Hard.
The Harbour's ferry port offers a number of routes to and from France, Spain
and the Channel Islands. P&O Portsmouth operate services to Le Havre, Cherbourg
and Bilbao. Brittany Ferries run services to Caen, St Malo and Santander. Wightlink
ferries provide car and passenger services to Fishbourne and Ryde on the Isle
of Wight and Hovertravel operate a passenger service to Ryde. The Gosport Ferry
is the main cross-harbour connection which links Gosport with Portsmouth. It
operates seven days a week between Gosport Esplanade and Portsmouth Harbour
Rail Station.
The major London airports Gatwick and Heathrow, both 60 miles away, and Southampton
International Airport are in easy reach of Portsmouth Harbour via good rail
and rail/coach connections. Southampton International Airport, just 22 miles
away, provides services to domestic UK, Channel Islands, French and Dutch destinations.
