Geography of Teesside Airport
Teesside International Airport is located six miles east of Darlington and
about ten miles southwest of Middlesbrough on the A67. It is one of the fastest
growing regional airports in the UK, with its increasing number of scheduled
flights quickly turning it into a convenient alternative for locals.
Its close proximity to the A1 motorway and the A19 provides fast road links
to nearby destinations such as Newcastle, Sunderland and Scotland to the north,
York, Leeds, Huddersfield and Nottingham to the south and Manchester and Liverpool
to the southwest.
The airport has regular bus and taxi connections to Darlington rail station,
which lies on the national rail network and provides rail links to major destinations
across the UK, including north to Scotland and south to London.
Northeastern England is well known for its picturesque countryside and scattered
farming villages each with unique pubs, teahouses and local character and hospitality.
The airport is also close to the scenic and rugged beauty of the northeastern
coastline, dotted with remote, unspoilt beaches, fishing villages and clifftop
castles. Hadrian’s Wall, the castles and cathedrals of Durham and York, the
North Yorkshire Moors, and Robin Hood’s Bay are all within an hour’s drive of
the airport.
